It’s that time again where we prepare for our next monthly meet-up. We’re back at the Royal Wells Hotel on the 16th of September, starting at 8pm as usual.
We’ll have an open mic before we’re joined by our guest poet Matthew Hollis. For the open mic, please bring a poem of your own (40 lines or fewer) and get ready to dazzle us.
As always, entry is free for members of the Kent & Sussex Poetry society, and £3 on the door for non-members. Please bring along any friends who may be interested – we’d love to meet them!
Our lovely guest poet Matthew Hollis is the author of Now All Roads Lead to France: The Last Years of Edward Thomas (2011), winner of the Costa Biography Award, and The Waste Land: A Biography of a Poem (2022), a book of the year in the Financial Times, New Statesman and Sunday Times. Ground Water, a poetry collection, was shortlisted for the Guardian First Book Award, 2004; Earth House was longlisted for the Laurel Prize for Poetry, 2023. He is co-editor of The Poems of Seamus Heaney (2025).
If you’d like to learn more about him and his poetry, you can visit his website here: matthewhollis.com

We look forward to seeing everyone there!
