Catherine Balaq at the Royal Wells Hotel, 18th November

Good afternoon!

Our next monthly meeting is coming up on the 18th of November, taking place at the Royal Wells Hotel in Tunbridge Wells as usual.

We start at 8pm with an Open Mic (one poem per reader, max 40 lines), followed by our guest poet: Catherine Balaq. We can’t wait to hear your poems for this month!

As always, entry is free for members of the Kent & Sussex Poetry society, and £3 on the door for non-members. Please don’t hesitate to bring along any friends who may be interested.

Catherine Balaq is a writer of poetry and novels. Her work has been shortlisted for the Bridport Prize and nominated for the Pushcart Prize and the Forward Prize.  She has two collections of poems, ‘animaginary‘ with Black Cat and ‘Deathless‘ with Verve – available here. She is also Co-Editor of Black Cat Press (with K&S member Satya Bosman). Luke Kennard wrote:“Intimate, open-hearted and blazingly honest, the poems in Deathless establish Balaq as a distinctive and engaging voice. Memory and survival; wit and invention; attention to the indignities and the forcefulness of resilience; duty and wild abandon. It captures the beautiful and terrifying simultaneity of life: all of this is happening at once, is behind us, is coming our way.

See you all there!
