Kent and Sussex Poetry Society member Siân Thomas, who is Poet-in-Residence in Ashdown Forest, is chairing the judges for the 2024 Ashdown Forest Poetry Competition. The competition will award separate prizes for adults and 13-18 year-olds. Entry is free of charge. Deadline 31 August. Details here.

Meanwhile three other K&S members are taking part in ‘It Spoke to me‘ at the Whitstable Arts Festival on Sunday 1st September. The event is organised by Jane O’Brien. Jane, along with Caroline Franklyn and Phil Vernon and seven other poets, will read new poems inspired by the Festival’s ‘Unnavigated‘ art exhibition. ‘It Spoke to Me’ will be held at the Whitstable Waterfront.
