Members’ News: Roger West on the radio in France

Roger West, one of our members based in France, is an ex-punk musician and now poet and performance poet. Roger headlined at the Mots de Vent poetry festival in the Corbières region. His was the festival closing event on Sunday the 7th, in an 11th century church in the village of Fontjoncouse. He was joined by voodoo blues guitarist, Bob Morse, who as well as playing improvised music also created a canvas live on stage.

Roger was also the subject of a radio programme broadcast on Radio FMPlus in Montpellier, where he was interviewed, read poetry and sang. The programme lasts an hour and is in French:

He was also included in writer and journalist Reha Yunluel’s video anthology of living poets. It was an interview followed by Roger reading some poetry and is in English.  The link is below.

Both programmes are well worth a listen. They help explain Roger’s philosophical and practical approach to his highly original and collaborative craft, as well as providing an opportunity to hear him recite poetry and sing.
