We had a fantastic evening reading our poems to a packed audience in the Tunbridge Wells Oxfam Bookshop last night. Thanks to all who came, all who read, and in particular to our members, Mary and Robert for organising, and Sandra, bookshop manager for having us! Best thing of all – lots of books were sold for Oxfam. Here are some images from the evening…

The Oxfam bookshop has recently received some large donations of unusual and good quality poetry books. Get first choice of these at our Poetry Evening on May 22nd which is being held in conjunction with the Kent & Sussex Poetry Society. As well as the chance to buy, there will informal poetry readings by society members and a glass of wine/soft drink.
Follow @OxfamBooksTW on Twitter for more details, or just turn up. We’d love to see you there!
We are pleased to welcome Anne Berkeley to the Camden Centre on Tuesday 15th May. Anne is editor of Seam magazine, part of the successful Joy Of Six poetry performance group, and her first collection, The Men From Prago was published to great acclaim by Salt Publishing last year:
The array of voices – boastful, baffled, sardonic – employs Berkeley’s experience as a poetry performer with The Joy of Six. In poems that frequently wrongfoot the reader, the Empire shrinks to an opera audience, the Royal Family is reduced to waxworks, and Cambridge finally gets its ecological mass transportation system. Obliquely political, this debut collection takes a sideways look at modern England.
